At this time of year, it’s hard not to go all out. Don’t get me wrong, I love a bit of glitter as much as the next person but in terms of longevity I am all about those winter basics.
As you may have noticed before, there is nothing I am drawn to more than a great red knit and the fluffy texture of this version means you can do festive cosiness all winter long.
Since it opened, ARKET has been my dream store to browse and its staple pieces have proven themselves as favourites in my wardrobe (I’ve worn this jumper on repeat since this shoot!). And what I love about it is that both minimalists and maximalists can find something in store – it has that excellent mix of easy basics but with the added element of ‘all the stuff’ you want.
But if you’re looking for classic pair of jeans, it’s your go-to place. I’ve been looking for some new jeans ever since Peggy was born – my hips have widened and pretty much none of my old ones do up. But instead of worrying about it, I vowed to treat myself to a few new pairs in my new size, instead. And it has been liberating, I feel good in my new fitting jeans and it’s one less thing to stress about.
I’ve been wearing high waisted straight leg jeans and they’re such a useful shape, I’m going back to 90s classic denim shapes and find them quite flattering in their own boyish way (which is 100% more me).
And how to add an extra element of festive style?
The answer is: glitter socks. My latest obsession (I got these in pink, as well). I am a bare ankle girl at heart but I have to face facts at this time of year. They also make great gifts for friends and family, too, and I will attempt the socks and sandal trend this season…wish me luck.
