Last week I found the perfect dress. Black, chiffon, off the shoulder and (just a little bit) cut-out. It’s girly without the fuss and chic enough for black tie…as un dressy as I am, at this time of year, life often calls for a LBD (as much as I hate that abbreviation!). That’s kind of why I love Topshop, you can find a grungey sweater dress, the anti dressy dress yet also the dream girly version, all under one roof. I’m also thinking this dress could potentially work with a long sleeve stripe tee underneath and trainers…
The double layer chiffon and ruffle details are super flattering and covers enough of the arms so that no one figures out I’ve been neglecting my Tracey Anderson exercises. To get to the point: it shoes just enough skin whilst also showing very little, which is the right of sexy I like to be…

Now, the heels DO come in plain black velvet. And they were the ones I was so going to get for this dress…and then I saw the burnt orange and thought no, let’s blow ‘safe’ out the window and go for the outfit makers. These sandals will make plain denim and a shirt look that extra little bit more special. My husband even admitted he was unsure when I showed him but I love the extra punch they give the dress.

This dress really is so so beautiful – It's the perfect bit of everything from elegant to sexy to just plain gorgeous! I love that you opted for coloured velvet heels because it really adds that pop that a gorgeous outfit needs!

Thank you! I really think this is a forever buy 🙂 xxx
Hi Alex, I absolutely love you and your style and often visit your site for inspiration but I have noticed a few too many "in collaboration" posts recently (the last 3 have all been sponsored). Lord knows a girl has got to make a living (;)) and I know you have said you only promote things you like BUT it would be nice to see fewer of these and more of your home/ wardrobe that you have bought yourself… thanks!
Completely understand – it's a busy time with christmas coming, and they were all fab projects I wanted to be a part of, and I do only wear things I love (and I declare sponsored posts, unlike a lot of other blogs!). I actually believe my last two posts were better because of the sponsored natured, it meant I could put more time and energy into them. That said, I have a cashmere post coming up next hopefully you'll love! x
Hi Alex
Love this look and as always love love love your post.
And so appreciate your response to above message. Youre such an authentic blogger who has always stayed true to her message and style.
Xx
Thank you – I actually had my eye on this dress already – and it was a happy coincidence Topshop wanted to work on something! I do try my best to be as objective as possible with both my editorial and sponsored posts x
What a cute dress! I’m in love with it! Thank you for sharing!
