DRESSING FOR A POST PANDEMIC SUMMER

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman

Quick Read

Dress: April Meets October via Cissy Wears. Bag: goh totes (this one is sold out but you can sign up for notifications!). Sandals: Birkenstock. This post contains some affiliate links.

I feel nervous even writing ‘post pandemic’ but I’m going with optimism here! Maybe it’s the fact my body shape has changed significantly since having my second baby, or I think it’s probably more that lockdown has made us realise that comfy, relaxed clothing just is an easier option, I’m certainly looking at different clothes than I would have a few years ago.

Shirt: H&M (old) but Gap have similar here. Trousers: H&M (I’m wearing a size medium and currently size 12). Sandals: Arizona Love. This post contains some affiliate links.
Blazer: And Other Stories (mine is old but they always do this style). Shirt: H&M (old) but Gap have similar here. Trousers: H&M. Sandals: Arizona Love. Bag: Turtle Bags (available in green here).

A bit more timeless, way more elasticated and looser, more comfortable silhouettes. Not that I want to hide my body away by any means, but I’ve found that when I adapt my wardrobe to fit/suit my changing body, as opposed to changing my body to fit my old clothes, I am much happier and my confidence shines through.

I for one need to be slowly weaned back into dressing for city life after wearing tracksuits and slippers for almost 18 months and, thankfully, brands seems to understand this new way of dressing:

Polyester and cotton dress: Lindex (also comes in black)
Linen and cotton shorts: Gap.
Polyester dress: Marks & Spencer
Dress: Whistles
Polyester/rayon/elastane trousers: Gap
Dress: And Other Stories
Cotton dress: Kemi Telford at John Lewis
Linen shorts: Arket
Cotton poplin dress: Nobody’s Child (last summer)
‘Rochelle’ floral dress: Nobody’s Child
This whole look! Cotton breton: Cos
Polyester dress: Free People
Cotton shirt: H&M. Cotton shorts: H&M
Organic cotton dress: Damson Madder

Thank you so much for this post! I’m also optimistic and trying to navigate the anxiety of reentry with a softer body and a different outlook, plus I’m turning 47 this summer, and well, that’s a thing. I’ve decided to treat myself to a few things that will make me feel confident in this years body. I love that there are midi options with sleeves.

Oh brilliant, I think it’s just as important to acknowledge and appreciate the body you have now – I have felt so much more confident in a few new different silhouettes x

They’re actually satin! But would be so gorgeous in red velvet, you’re right! x
