Golden girl…

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman

Dress: £148, Free People (sold out but available in other colours). Bag: Rae Feather. Mules: £17.99,  H&M (sold out). Photographs: Christopher O’Donnell

As most of you know by now, Nerja, for us, is a bit of a home away from home. My parents have had an apartment for about 17 years and we try and go at least once a year – mostly for an affordable holiday, but also because we re-visiting somewhere we have a connection with, where we don’t need to worry about taking towels, suncream etc and know we’ll have a great time no matter the weather.

These photos were taken on one of our favourite streets: Calle Hernando de Carrbbeo. It’s a lovely quiet street on the way to Burriana beach and I love the walk. In the evening, the street is filled with outside tables and families dining by candlelight and all the restaurants have amazing sea views and we always have a peek through open doors to have a glimpse of the cliff top views.

Wearing one of my favourite new summer colours: yellow. I am always smitten with a boho top/dress on holiday but this colour makes me feel happy. I love that it’s not too bright, and mustard is an easier colour to pull off than a canary yellow. This is also a nod to tonal dressing…previously I probably would’ve worn with black sandals but I grabbed my H&M gold mules this time and quite enjoying the matchy matchiness of it.

And I also really think H&M have upped their shoes game. They always used to feel a bit ‘plastic-y’ but every time I go on I find some I like at the moment.

Earrings: £85, Astley Clarke

Dress: £148, Free People (sold out but available in other colours). Bag: Rae Feather. Mules: £17.99,  H&M (sold out).

Thank you for everyone’s lovely messages regarding Nerja – so lovely to hear so many of you love it, too. It truly is one of the most unspoilt places on the Costa Del Sol and we’re already planning our next trip back.

I remember going to Nerja on a family holiday like 13 years ago or something…your photos definitely make me want to go back as an adult and explore properly! The yellow dress is perfect, I’ve never liked wearing yellow until this year but I am loving it for summer at the moment. Sophie xxx

I also have parents in Nerja and I visit every year! I was over a few weeks ago before the season really kicks off! It is always affordable and the town is buzzy in the evening! There are now a good selection of boutiques if you are a shopper! Loved the dress already put my name down for the cream one when my size is next in stock!

Thank you for sharing your trip details with us! Would you mind sharing if you found the H&M mules to run true-to-size? For some reason H&M shoes seem to run large for me (I’m usually a solid EU 38 in every other brand), but sizing for mules tends to be tricky. Thank you!

Hard to say as I’m very standard with sizes – and the 39 were fine for me! x
