How to wear white

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman
Dress: £29.99, H&M (bought instore last week). Leather jacket: £295, Jigsaw. Espadrilles: Asos (sold out but buy similar from New Look here)
I’ve been outfit planning for the blog recently, and noticed that all my new clothes seem to be white and cream (so you’ll be seeing a few more posts coming up). Although a tricky trend to try, I’m drawn to white at the moment – it feels whimsical and full of summer.

Try with a leather jacket to toughen up the romantic quality…and if wearing it on its own, look for dresses with pockets and relaxed hems and wear with flats or trainers – a far more modern way to wear a lighter hue. Also make sure the item is well-lined, and not see through – the High Street is getting much better for this and it’s worth spending a bit more sometimes to get it right.

Love this! I am also loving wearing white and cream at the moment, until I pour my coffee down myself! haha!

Oh yes, not practical at all! I found some sort of weird gravy mark down my white peasant top the other day, no idea how i even did it!

Love the dress, so perfect for summer and I love the slightly dropped armhole. I hope and pray they have this in my local h&m as it's gorgeous!

It's so annoying how the store doesn't always match up with online – but had to share! Hope you find it x

Haven't seen long, drop waisted dresses like this since the '80s……

I'm absolutely amazed to see this – I used to wear dresses like this in the '80s, with flats and a denim jacket (couldn't afford leather)……

I couldn't afford leather either, until recently – it's a forever purchase. And yes, everything comes back round, I suppose – I have always liked a dropped waist personally (and this one has pockets!)

I was thrilled to a quite uncool level to see you feature this on the blog PLUS the jacket, EXACTLY how I used to wear it. Being way less stylish than you, this feels great!! I still have my 2 drop waisted dresses from the '80s, both French Connection. One white with faint green pin stripes and another in a Japanese style blue fabric. We were inspired by Greta Scacchi's movie "Heat and Dust" (1983). I even had a pith helmet but only for private posing as it felt a bit OTT in the streets of London.
