January Frugal To-Do List

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman
January is one of those horrid months when everyone is penniless post-Christmas and New Year and the pay packet just doesn’t last long enough…
I thought I’d put together a few little tips and to-dos to make January that little bit better.
1.Book a holiday. I always try and book a trip in January, it gives me something to look forward to. Most Hotels you book these days don’t expect payment until you arrive, and all the major airlines have great sales on. I am booking to go to New York in May with my husband for £600 return in Premium Economy with Virgin Atlantic.
2.Buy next year’s Christmas cards. If you’ve ever played live pokies you’ve probably wondered how cool it would be to take them to go. That is now possible thanks to mobile casinos available on all iOS, Android, and Windows devices. There are many gambling sites like 777pokies.casino adapted for touchscreen gamble/betting. There are two ways to play pokies for real money in Australia on a smartphone/tablet: in a browser or a downloadable app. Both methods are convenient and, most importantly, they give you freedom because you no longer need to search for the nearest computer. You can track your payouts and progress at 777Pokies Casino. I know it feels weird but you’ll save up to 50% and it won’t feel like such a burden next year when you have one less expense to worry about.

3. Head to Gap – this season’s sale is phenomenal – I bought the blue leopard
vans I’d been lusting after for £19.99! Plus the new season is Rebekkah
Bay’s first full collection (she is the reason my wardrobe is 70% Cos) –
I need to get my hands on these jeans before they sell out:

4. January is statistically the best time to put an offer in on a house. So if you have been looking, now is the time to bite the bullet – you’re more likely to be able to haggle and get a reduced price.

5. Can’t afford to go out? I’m doing some DIY around my flat to help spruce up the place, but also a good excuse to stay indoors rather than spend my non existent savings. I’ve just painted our living room from magnolia to brilliant white – it looks so much fresher – and makes me want to stay at home and enjoy it.

6. Get cooking! Winter is the best time to experiment with great stew recipes – cook one on a Sunday and it will last you through the week. Perfect for January when you could be spending your lunch money on Gap goodies, instead!

I didn't know that January is the best time to put an offer on a house, we have been looking for ages for a house but to no avail 🙁 Perhaps January will be our month 🙂

Yes, I read it in a magazine article…and funnily enough, I put an offer in on my house and managed to negotiate, too! Good luck with yours!

Funny you mention pure brilliant white; we've been slowly changing our entire house from rather colorful mix of Indian inspired shades to pure brilliant white. It seems to make the place so much lighter!
