Join the dots: polka dot blouse

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman

Top: £75, Kitri. Bag: £79, Wood/Grey (available for pre-order here). Jeans: Gap (old). Photographs: Ella Sadika.

It seems this summer, I’ve adopted a Flamenco dancer as my style icon. Polka dots, frill sleeves and hems (and more often than not, worn with a poignant red lip) and that’s okay with me.

Usually one for a stripe, this season I’m turning to polka dots as an alternative pattern (although don’t get me wrong, my wardrobe is still 85% of the stripe variety).

Top: £75, Kitri. Bag: £79, Wood/Grey (available for pre-order here). Belt: Asos (old). Jeans: Gap (old). Pom pom mules: £32, Next.

The polka dot blouse is from relatively new kid on the block, Kitri. The brand launched a few months ago and is a more considered, stylish approach to classic pieces – shirts with a twist, great fabrics – and perfect for both work and weekend wear.

This piece will come on holiday with me and worn tucked into a skirt, but works equally well with just jeans and THE Next flats (which are super comfortable and I get so many compliments on).

Sunglasses: £98 including prescription lenses, Ollie Quinn. Earrings: £6.99, Mango

What about the bag?

The bag is incoming to Wood/Grey later this month, too. I’ve had so many compliments on it via Instagram Stories, and Helen (who started the site) has been sourcing all her amazing product for the site herself. Another truly amazing woman who started her online shop from scratch whilst bringing up a toddler, and I’m helping her spread the word. Perfect for holidays, summer and also a great alternative to a clutch with occasionwear.

Apologies for being (a little) quiet on the blog front, what with the renovations, styling jobs and trying to find an office (fingers crossed!), I’ve been really struggling to find a work/life balance. But we’re on holiday from next week and think it has come at the right time. Trying to slow down sometimes is as intense as speeding up, and it’s all a learning process!

    Hi Alex,

This is a question regarding your windows and doors and not the lovely polka dot top. I remember a little while ago you mentioned that you were off checking out windows in Leigh on sea??? I think, did you manage to get some and please could you share where this was and if they were Crittal? Doing a small extension myself and need some doors and windows.

    Thanks in advance

Hi Shabs, no worries at all! So we went to Duration Windows – they’re aluminium windows but look like steel/crittal and much cheaper….the only problem is they couldn’t fit them for us, so we’re still on the search…..
