Paint the town red

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman
Coat: £198, Jigsaw. Jumper: £290, Bella Freud. Stripe top (worn underneath): £15.60, Boden. Jeans: £36, Topshop. Bag: £170, M Hulot. Boots, reduced to £49, KG at Shoeaholics

How to inject a bit of zing into your mainly grey, black and navy wardrobe? I’ve only just been converted to the red boot trend but now I’m a fully fledged member of the appreciation society.

I usually find it so hard to find a pair of boots that sit tight enough to my calves but these are a great shape and sit perfectly under my kick flare jeans (which I’ve been wearing on repeat).

When a new trend comes in, especially one that’s a little more daring than a grey sweatshirt, I find it quite hard to spend too much money – so when I found these for just £49 (originally £160!), I thought it was worth the risk.

And they make my rather boring ‘uniform’ of jeans, Bella Freud jumper and pea coat feel just that little bit more on point. Oh and they’re comfortable, too, should probably mention that.

We shot these pictures in Paris, and were spoilt for choice with doors, quiet streets and cobbled pavements…everything’s just a bit, well, prettier there, isn’t it?! These photos were taken in between finally trying Chartiers (no queue!) – a traditional restaurant with great, affordable food and a buzzing atmosphere, I can’t recommend it enough – and buying some easter chocolates for my nephew. An afternoon well spent!
