Pretty tough

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman
Black skinny scarf (I cut the tassels off): £8, Asos. T-shirt: Edith A Miller (old but buy similar from Shopbop here).  Suede skirt: £49.95 in the sale, Lindex. Suede bag: £199, Skagen. Ballet flats: £18, Asos. Sunglasses: £28 in the sale, Le Specs at Very Exclusive. Photographs: Christopher O’Donnell
I love an oxymoron. And even these ballet flats seemed the opposite of my style when I bought them, but that was the appeal. I love mixing pretty things like satin ribbons with strong textures like suede and denim – for me, it just works. And for £18, these ballet pumps are surprisingly VERY comfortable. I’m looking forward to wearing them with tough straight leg denim (I’m loving Gap’s ‘Vintage Straight’ jeans right now) when it starts to cool down. It took me a while to get used to the round-toe shape but ballet pumps are most definitely back.

Nails in ‘Babe Watch’: £7, Cheeky. Denim jacket: J Crew (old but buy similar from Asos here).
This suede bag is from Skagen, a new Scandi accessories brand on my radar – it’s super soft and it goes with everything. Khaki is my new neutral currently, and I love the pairing with denim and stripes (when do I not?!).
Black skinny scarf (I cut the tassels off): £8, Asos. T-shirt: Edith A Miller (old but buy similar from Shopbop here).  Suede skirt: £49.95 in the sale, Lindex. Suede bag: £199, Skagen. Sunglasses: £28 in the sale, Le Specs at Very Exclusive.
We shot this on Kelly Street, Camden – it makes a nice change from Notting Hill – we couldn’t believe our luck when we stumbled upon it. It’s a sure fire way to cheer you up when you walk down this pastel housed, tree-lined street…

I think the system ate my comment 🙁 I was going to say that those ballet pumps are really cute!! Do you find they run wide or narrow? (or true to size!)

Oh no! I think true to size, if anything a little wide (but you can kind of tighten them with the straps x

I love this gorgeous outfit – I love how you've used pieces that may not be your usual go -tos but you've made them so you!
