Last month was pretty epic for this little blog…I flew to Philadelphia with Free People to visit their incredible offices (and I’m talking the dream: dogs are allowed, gorgeous furniture, meeting rooms and with the most delicious canteen I’ve ever seen – freshly made sushi, salads and grill, and did I mention it was all set on the water?).
I’d never been to Philadelphia before and was very surprised that it was still 30 degrees in October (I only packed coats and boots!), I travelled with all time blog inspiration Lucy Williams from Fashion Me Now and we hung out exploring the city and shooting some Free People looks for their website. Not a bad weekend, right?

This week, we are featured on the Free People homepage -which involved myself having to ‘model’ clothes – not something I am often comfortable with…I’m just used to shooting with my husband and smiling away so it was lovely to work with the team and try some different ‘moves’….!
Luckily, the clothes were all dreamy and we were complete free reign to style as we would, it was so interesting seeing Lucy and myself pick completely different items to work with (although we both fell in love with the ‘ginger’ Vans).

We stayed at the amazing Lokal in Philadelphia, the coolest apartments right in the heart of the Old Town – the interiors were perfect and the location couldn’t have been better – highly recommended if you ever go.
We had a little time to do some touristy things, so we headed to Fishtown – the hip part of town where we had brunch in La Colombe followed by a peak in the cool local boutiques – Vestige was recommended to us and it didn’t disappoint.
The main city is great for shopping: Urban Outfitters, Free People (of course) and other stores I love such as Madewell. And we had a delicious lunch (outside!) people watching in Parc – and I even spotted James McAvoy dining inside.
Philadelphia is definitely somewhere I would love to return – if only for a steak philly sandwich (something I had to skip this time sadly as was still not quite up to eating meat at 16 weeks pregnant).

In regards to modelling, I won’t give up my day job (!) but I had such a great time in Philly – thanks for having me FP….
What you on about?! You’re a fab model!!
Love the camel cardigan and vans!! Might just have to go and order those ?
Never thought of Philadelphia as a go to destination but you have me intrigued, great post Alex!
Ha – I definitely wasn’t as ‘natural’ as Lucy! I bought the Vans when I got home and love them (and yes, Philly was fab – like a mini NYC!) xx
