Boy, it’s hot out there. And I’m going to do that incredibly British thing of complaining. Frankly, a bit of air wouldn’t go amiss…and when you don’t have an air conditioned office to go to and you’re on your feet all day, what exactly do you wear to still look chic for meetings?
A chic pair of flat sandals is essential – closed toe shoes just won’t do right now. A shirt is always a great workwear staple but this short sleeved version allows for more air to flow, and gingham is the surprise hit of the summer.
A full skirt, although still warm, is one of the smartest separates going, whilst also allowing for some personal air conditioning… Despite it being holiday temperatures outside, I still need to get down to business.

Great outfit Alex, just bought the ear cuff from my sun lounger as a post holiday treat to come home to!
I love this look. I'm embracing the skirts too as a lovely alternative to shorts. They do make you feel a little more dressed and put together don't they?
Love that Next shirt, been looking to buy it for a while. It looks so good with that skirt! X
That skirt is just perfect on you x
Gorgeous outfit and great blog! Thank you for making sense of the London summer for me!
Aah – so pleased, – love it and think it gives any outfit a bit of an 'edge'!
They sure do!
I'm going to wear it tied with denim shorts on holiday, too! x
Thank you! x
Thanks so much! x
Hi Alexandra! Can I ask you what size your shirt is? Thank you. Wonderful blog by the way!
Thank you! My shirt is a size 8 – and a good kind of loose! x
