What with the current polar vortex currently happening outside, it makes me wonder whether spring will actually ever appear? And then I remember to keep positive and my recent Instagram scrolling feed has subliminally been making me feel all sunshiney inside anyway…

Not usually being one for strong colour, I’ve been seeing a lot of use of rich yellows (more hint of mustard than sunshine) especially within interiors and I must admit, it keeps stopping me in my tracks.
And it made me think, maybe sometimes you just have to add your own sunshine.

This is probably more how I would incorporate it into my home (obviously I wish I lived here!) – a hint on a rug, in some artwork hung on neutral walls, or an amazing velvet chair.

It’s also a great colour to mix with navy and teal blue (something to think about for injecting some colour into our dark study).

This applies to outfits, too…(excuse the face – I’m smiling on the inside!)

I’ve scoured the internet for a few great yellow buys that could easily work into most colour schemes – even if you’re a self confessed colour-phobe like me:

You look so gorgeous with those sneakers! 🙂
Thanks for this post!
More power!
I think as far as interior yellow goes, I for a pop of colour works best. In the run up to Easter it’s a great colour for accent pieces, I often have daffodils on the dining table for St David’s Day (Dydd Dewi Sant). I’m more sunshine than mustard, although that has changed over the years.
I will never ever (again) wear full on yellow of any shade, reminds me of that hated yellow shirt dress, hand me down, at aged four I was forced to wear (it was crimpolene with gold and yellow enamel buttons). My mother loved that dress – me, not so much!
That should read “I go for a pop of colour”!
Oh yes – it’s nearly daffodil season, isn’t it?! And agree, don’t think sartorially I can do full-on yellow (but never say never!) xx
I have been looking for a mustard yellow wing back for
the last couple of months to go in our dark grey lounge, to act as a little bit summer sunshine year round.
Yes – sounds perfect xx
Yellow will always be the one colour that will make me smile and make me feel instantly happier, no matter what! Fran x
I LOVE yellow and mustard and have a mustard chair from made.com in my front room which makes me so happy when I look at it. I love all of these examples you’ve found!

I bet it would – so nice to lift with a bit of colour….now rethinking all of my navy….!
Great velvet mustard cushion cover at Ikea…great on a grey sofa.Total bargain (£6 I think )
Ooh – didn’t see anything when I was there last night! Will investigate x
They’re called SANELA..or something like that. Also very nice grey velvet one.
I love it for a pop of color, especially in velvet. It works especially well with dark blues and greens in my opinion. Or with pink and/or camel for a vintage feeling.
Loving the yellow and the sneaker combination! Great post
