The Perfect Trouser

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman

Summer is still in full throttle but soon the bikinis and kaftans will be out of the stores and we will be stocking up on faux fur everything (even bags, trust me)…

So I thought it was a good time to talk about a wardrobe basic: a classis pair of black trousers. I think I’ve found them. They’re £125 so not cheap but they are the most comfortable pair of trousers I have ever put on, the pockets sit nice and flat on the hip and they graze the ankle so beautifully that they work great with both heels and flats.

Where from? Winser London. Stocked in Harvey Nichols and loved by the Fashion savvy (Caroline Issa is a fan), the entire collection is wearable, chic and based on the perfect capsule wardrobe: the perfect shirt, the easiest cashmere and the best-fitting trousers (I could go on). The pair I’ve got on are called the ‘woven trouser’ and would make perfect everyday capri pants or you can smarten them up for work with a crisp shirt.

Jacket: J Crew (I’m wearing size L). Shirt: H+M. Clutch: Gap. Trousers: Winser London. Shoes: Manolo Blahnik

And a more frugal alternative? I also love these Asos turn-up tailored trousers. They’re slouchy so I would perhaps go a size down if you’re in-between, but for £30, you can’t really go wrong.

Shirt: MHL Margaret Howell (buy similar here in the sale). Trousers: Asos. Trainers: Adidas Gazelle.

A good pair of trousers is definitely worth the money as they are probably the most worn piece in my wardrobe (not only) during the colder season and they always look great with high heels. Gorgeous styling with your leopard blouse.
I love the entire collection by Winser London…

The Winser London ones look lovely, but as my office is fairly casual the ASOS ones look like a no-brainer to me!! I'll be picking those up next time I log on 🙂

They look nice, and I imagine that the viscose / cotton blend makes them quite comfortable. Gap do a similar looking pair, in stretch cotton, called the Slim Cropped Pant, for £30, if anyone wants something similar, but finds the Winser trousers a bit spendy. This is them: http://www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=57403&vid=1&pid=000760954002

      Hi Belinda,
I have tried the Gap ones in the past, but I tend to find they lose their shape quite quickly…the asos ones are good for the lower budget x

Mm, cotton can be tricky like this, I agree.

    Hi,

I love the look of these trousers, but on the wesbite the 'woven' trousers are £125, are these the right ones?

    Thank you!
