Weddings: what to wear {Part Two}

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman

A jumpsuit.

Jumpsuit, Topshop (buy similar here). Bag: Zara. Shoes: Balenciaga. Necklace: Topshop

 In navy.

This is my new favourite jumpsuit, I wear it in the day with my Dune flat sandals and then by evening with gold jewellery and my favourite old Balenciaga heels (bought in the sale from Brown Thomas in Dublin – it was their last pair = fate).
I haved loved the MiH boiler suit for what feels like eternity but in reality, my budget just wouldn’t stretch so when I saw this in Topshop, I had to have it.
I think it’s perfectly okay to wear navy to a wedding these days, as long as you look smart and mix with either coloured or metallic accessories. And the High Street have a great selection, too, so you don’t have to spend a fortune.
Star bracelet, £88, lips bracelet, £61, both Carat London. Circular bracelet, Z for Accessorize (coming soon)
THE FRUGAL EDIT:

£189, Reiss

£60, Topshop
£89, Mint Velvet

£45, River Island
£225, J Crew
£19.99, H+M
£14.99, H+M
Anyone planning a wedding and want to fine tune your invites? My favourite stationery store, Quill London, is holding its first ‘Modern Calligraphy’ class in Clerkenwell. The event is on Saturday 19th July and tickets are available here.

Perfect outfit as it is so very you and you don't lose your identity donning a dress you wouldn't normally buy or wear again as is so often the case for weddings. Loved both of the wedding posts and thanks for the brilliant ideas.

I'm *starting* to loosen up in front of the camera, and I must admit this outfit helped!

I love this outfit, it's very me! I have worn navy to weddings in the past. I also like your bracelets. I'd like to try the layered fine gold necklace trend but not sure about lengths, any ideas welcome? I think you suit this wedding outfit more than the last one. I could just be biased though as I love navy and trousers!!!

Navy is my favourite colour, too! I always try new trends but a navy cashmere jumper is where I'm my most comfortable…actually the Z for Accessorize collection has a gorgeous long gold chain in it – coming out end of July, I think – and they're such a good price you can afford to try to layer a few up!

      Thanks I'll look online now.
Just read your azure blue piece. Love, love, love!!!! So fresh and summery – is that a word? I bought an azure blue linen top on hols and I've worn it to death already. Thanks again x

You look lovely. Was slightly worried by your "think it's perfectly OK to wear navy to a wedding these days" comment, as I did it myself recently and it never occurred to me not to. Navy dress with off-white spots, predominantly off-white (and blue) jacket, off-white bag and (whew! you'd have approved) bronze heels. My sister-in-law looked amazing in this Next navy dress: http://www.next.co.uk/g6340s3#697239g63. Maybe I'm just in a blue mood …

Haha – yes, I'm never that PC about these things but sometimes when I say I'm wearing navy or a cream blazer, people often say 'Really'?! And I forget there's etiquette at weddings! I wore a cream long dress to my sister's wedding – but she chose it, so that's okay (still got a few comments from guests, though!)…

What's so great about your outfit is that you can tell you feel nice in it. You know it really suits you and that makes such a big difference.

You look gorgeous Alex! I love your new shirt hair- it suits you so much! I've always wanted to wear a jumpsuit to a wedding but have never quite found one that suited- I have one coming up in November so maybe I'll go for it then!

I love a jumpsuit. I was due to go to a ball and I was happily going to wear my Topshop bandeau jumpsuit, in black, with some 'Scarlet' heels from Reiss. Unfortunately I cannot go, due to unforeseen circumstances, but it will be put on the back burner until our School Winter Ball in November. H xx

I wore the mint velvet one featured to a wedding last week and felt wonderful in it! One of my reasons for a jumpsuit was it was a western style wedding with a bucking bronco….jumpsuit way to go! Love the topshop one too, xx

We got crummy weather on our wedding day, so we didn't get to have sunshine streaming through the large windows like I had hoped; but even still, the light managed to fill the space, despite the gray skies.
