How to wear your full skirt…

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman
Sweatshirt: Isabel Marant Etoile at Net-A-Porter. Skirt: H+M. Trainers: Kurt Geiger

But everything looks good with an Isabel Marant sweatshirt, right…? Possibly…but a Gap version could look just as good. When I first bought this skirt, I was worried I could only wear it with heels but I am loving the Sports Luxe appeal of trainers.

These will never go into the sale as they’re just too useful. £95, Kurt Geiger
These are in the sale but there are only a few left, reduced to £49, Kurt Geiger

I had a voucher for Net A Porter and was sifting through the sales when I remembered there was something I had lusted after full-price: the Isabel Marant Tokyo sweatshirt (I even put it on one of my March pages for Red – a travel page on Tokyo). I probably own a few too many sweatshirts but I do wear them all and this one looks almost made for me – a few friends had even emailed it to me suggesting I got it – it was fate. And I even had a little left over for an extra treat: a candle (monochrome of course).

The fabric is super soft and a big logo sweatshirt can really pull your outfit together, so you can afford to “scrimp” on the other pieces. Use it to dress down an otherwise smart look:

Full skirt, £48, Topshop
Pencil skirt, £40, Topshop
Neoprene skirt, £35, Asos

Leather skirt, £79.99, H+M

Midi Skirt, £145, Whistles

PS A few people were asking how the candle smelt…and I have to say it’s nice but SUBTLE – it takes a while for the scent to settle in. It’s no Diptyque…but it does look very cool:

Candle, £50, Net A Porter

Absolutely perfect for you given that your honeymoon was in Japan. I love it. Can I ask what size you bought it in? Marant sizing I hear runs "amok".

I bought French size 38 – so a 10…as my Zoe karssen is really teeny and lacks that "slouchy" feel
