A little while ago, Habitat asked to photograph my home. I was a bit nervous, as my flat is very small and quite ‘normcore’, but they kindly explained that this was what they wanted! I am always fascinated by people’s homes (Sofia Coppola’s home is my dream) and it’s often nicer when they’re a bit more ‘real’. It was great letting the Habitat team into my home and showing them my world (plus really motivated me to tidy up!).
You can see the full article and images online at Habitat here, and visit Habitat’s Pinterest board here, featuring cool, ‘real’ homes everywhere (including Melanie Rickey’s home, which is amazing).
My must-have Habitat piece:

Metal and wood coffee table, £35, Habitat |
As a Habitat fan anyway, I have had this coffee table for a while, it’s a great piece, really affordable, easy to piece together and light to move around! I also have the side table for £25. Bargain.
Your house looks lovely!
Where is your desk and bedside cabinet from?
Hi, thanks so much! My bedside cabinet is from Dwell x
Your house looks so lovely Alex, I am one for a spot of 'norm core' too, to be honest I find myself drifting into clothes shops when I am meant to be house shopping! You house has inspired me I really like the clean lines. I am now finally off to get some radiator covers this weekend…that coat I wanted will have to wait
Which ones did you go for? Briony and I both have the Homebase ones and they're great – love that they act as shelves, too!
LOVED this Alex! Your home is beautiful and i love all the personal touches. Also loved having a nosey parker through some other peoples homes too 😉
Thank you – I love letting people into my home when they do lovely pics like these – much better than I could do…!
It looks gorgeous Alex. I miss Habitat! Have a great weekend x
Thanks! A world without Habitat….could I cope?!
Alex, your home looks very creative and very "you"., love it!
Thank you so much, Ann! x
What a lovely home! (Just adore that gold pineapple..)
Have you come across Pretty Pegs? They do great, inexpensive replacement legs for furniture (originally just for Ikea pieces but now with universal fittings, too); it's easy to do and I believe your sofa (dark grey wool! buttoning! *sigh*) would like these: http://www.prettypegs.com/en/home/14–carl-.html#/size-regular/fittings-m8/color-teak_style
Anyhoo, your blog is fabulous xx
ps. I think you would love the A Merry Mishap blog..
Thank you – those legs look fab – will definitely check them out! Thank you…and OMG – a merry mishap blog is GORGEOUS!!! x
Your home may be small but it is perfectly formed! I love how you've thought about the details and created a stylish abode that's very cosy at the same time.
Thank you – I still feel, 4 years on, it's not completely finished, but it's lovely to let your home grow organically and feel part of 'you'.
