Tulle dress, £320, Self Portrait |
I don’t get myself into a wedding panic very often…I usually just find an old dress, grab a clutch and go. But this season I haven’t bought anything ‘wedding specific’.
But with an event coming up next month, I realised that there will be only A/W in stores if I didn’t act fast. Plus, I wanted something different – not the usual wedding guest outfits. This is where the most current brand of the moment comes in – and it doesn’t cost as much as you may think.

I was sold when I saw friend and blogger, Briony from A Girl A Style, wear hers in Regents’ Park rose garden – too stunning.

Briony agrees that the quality of these dresses are just as good as its designer – more expensive – counterparts.
So, for a dreamy dress that will be sure to get you noticed (and showered with compliments), will also guarantee that your friends won’t be wearing it to the same event, and won’t come with the £1000+ pricetag – Self Portrait is your new go-to.

Their dresses are so lovely! I have been wanting to get one for a fall wedding…
They sell out so quickly though….! The size 8 was sadly a bit small, so had to buy the next size up and was nigh on impossible t track it down! I did, thankfully!
I remember when this brand first dropped on ASOS! I've got my eye on the pencil skirt. So versatile
The skirt would be such a good buy. And I always think, if it's on Asos, it's practically High Street, yes?!
all attires are amazing

I love this brand. I remember seeing it on Eleanor Calder and just falling in love x

Wow. How have I never heard of Eleanor Calder? Just spent about 20 minutes scrolling her feed!
Gorgeous dress! I keep looking at these in Selfridges and now that I have two balls to attend, I have the perfect excuse to buy one! Hope that you enjoy wearing yours. X
Perfect for a ball! I feel magical in mine…
Adore your choice of dress, one of the most beautiful Self Portrait styles I have seen, love the short sleeves and see-through maxi length, you will look amazing xxx
Now I just need to figure out how to take it up…..!
Oooh that lilac tulle dress is so dreamy! This is hands down my favourite brand this summer; I actually ended up buying two of their dresses this season because I was so impressed by the quality, fit and price. The white Arabella is definitely a 'special occasion' dress, but I wear my black Aurelia dress (which I bought the day it came in stock on Selfridges) at least once a week everywhere from the office to meetings to dinner to parties (it seems to work for literally any occasion). As you say it's about the same price as Whistles, but the same quality as my RedValentino and Temperley dresses (and bonus points for always having pockets and being machine washable!!). Will definitely be buying more!
Briony xx
hello! i just love the dress you picked out and it's such an unusual choice for a wedding (I mean this in a good way!) 🙂 all the other dresses you suggested above are lovely as well!! however, one question — wouldn't you consider the color on nr.2 dangerously close to white? i'm not sure if the color is strong enough to comfortably attend a wedding as a guest…help please?
It would totally depend on the bride, I think….number 2 has a nude underlay so not completely white, and if you paired it with coloured accessories and perhaps a jacket over the shoulders, it's totally fine! Weddings have changed a lot in recent years, I always see people in black…my sister in law wore a strapless white dress to mine but I didn't really think anything of it! xx
I like the lace dress- stylish and comfortable.
