January Blues

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman

Chunky knit: £35, Asos. Jeans: £32, Asos Maternity. Shoes: Mimco (old). Bag: Whistles (old). Glasses: £98 (including prescription lenses), Ollie Quinn. Photographs: Christopher O’Donnell.

Unwittingly, I captioned this and realised that today (15th January) is officially named Blue Monday. According to Scientists, it is the most depressing day of the year – yay.

It could help explain my current rut in terms of shoots and photos – I’ve been a bit quiet on social media this past week as I have nothing to photograph – no new clothes, a minimal bank balance, no finished rooms in the house to photograph and every time I look outside it’s grey, gloomy and wet.

But that’s not to say we shouldn’t be positive – I’ve been really productive elsewhere, I’ve been finally going to my office on a regular basis, getting lots of admin and planning sorted for the new year and once the sun decides to show it’s face again – I will be ready!

This is a little shoot we did a few weeks back – I was recommended these jeans by a reader on Instagram, and can’t quite believe I didn’t find them myself! They’re very similar to the straight leg jeans I was wearing pre pregnancy and the knit is useful for anyone – pregnant or not.

I love the fit of a knitted dress in winter but it’s always a tricky piece as I find knitwear feels weird with tights – so I love that this can be layered with jeans.

That’s it from me today, I’m going to retire back to the warmth of my living room now (which is currently a room full of junk as the builders still finish off some upstairs snagging) – wishing you all a not so blue week ahead!

Loving the pop of colour, this outfit would work just as well on those who aren’t pregnant.
I think I have the blues all year round, as blue is my happy colour! That being said I’m not keen on the ‘powers that be’ telling me I should be depressed today, I’ve just deleted a stack of e-mails that want me to spend money to cheer me up! As most of it’s end of sale stock, I prefer to look forward to ‘try ‘ and plan how to spend my money wisely for the season ahead. Even better we are half way through winter today!
Looking forward to seeing more from your house renovation – I love getting a peak of how others live!

What a more positive way to look at it! Navy is actually my favourite colour, too! x

To be fair, my husband went to Lidl this morning and a whole jar of pasta sauce leaked in his bag – so he definitely had a Blue Monday!! x

What an amazing jumper! I love the asymmetrical line and the little yellow bag too. Just booked a city break so something to look forward to in the gloomy weather. Remind me again of your due date? You are certainly blooming at the moment; middle months are the best.

Due in March – maybe that doesn’t help with the mood – no travelling for a while for me! Which city?

        Hi again,
We are going to Prague and it will be COLD so lots of layers for me. I am miserable if I am too cold. I like to be minimalist but plan and mull over what to take for weeks before hand. Drives my Dearly Beloved mad. Not long to March so make sure you get plenty of rest.

Yes, I always think of March as spring but made that mistake in Berlin and it was a snowstorm! Loved Prague – we did a lovely tour in a Skoda which was hilarious! xx

Enjoyed this post as usual. Darling great shots . I love ❤️ when a designer or label feel so strongly about their product. So happy to have found this blog. Can’t wait to read the rest. XO

Nothing beats a cozy sweater and comfy jeans on a ‘blue’ day. This look is so easy and still super chic, I especially love the pop of color from the bag. Super cute!

The chunky knit seems adequate to protect you from the elements. And it’s going well with the denim too. Good outfit choice 🙂
