The fail-safe combo

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman
Jumper: £25, Asos. Jeans: £54.95, Gap. Shoes: £42 in the sale, Office. Bag: Sezane (sold out but buy similar here). Photographs: Christopher O’Donnell

I think I’ve found it. A bright pop of colour jumper, jeans and leopard accessories. The easy outfit which makes you feel cool, relaxed but also a little bit fashiony.

This was my London Fashion Week outfit for the last day of the shows, and I felt like me.

Apart from my 1970 Bella Freud jumper I don’t actually own any red clothing, but this may be about to change. Tomato red is one of the colours of the season and you’ll be seeing a lot more of it…and this Asos jumper at £25 is the ideal entry point.

You also may have noticed I’ve ditched the skinnies for straight leg of late…I got another pair whilst my Asos ones were in the wash (I know you’re not supposed to wash jeans but I can’t….) and these are such a good wash and shape, plus they stop just above the ankles: so you can show off your (£42) shoes. I know I keep going on about Gap lately but it really is good at the moment and I’ve lived in these jeans.

Jumper: £25, Asos. Jeans: £54.95, Gap. Shoes: £42 in the sale, Office. Bag: Sezane (sold out but buy similar here).

I adore your look – a bright jumper always does it for me! I feel so confident in colours like that!

I'm also loving the straight leg and the shoes add that extra touch! Great look!

Apparently, with true denim, you're not actually supposed to wash them so they age well and don't shrink etc….I know, it's beyond me. But a friend I used to work with never washed hers and they always looked cool. And she never smelt bad….!

Love the way you put things together. Do you think a 54 year old could wear those leopard shoes?

Hi Alex do you think these jeans will look ok with the sock boots I have the ones from m&s with the tortoise shell heel – I'm really struggling to style them don't seem to look right with skirts, I wear with opaque tights do you think nude would be better? Thank you xx

Yes, I think so as they finish just above the ankle! Also, check out my post on what jeans to wear with what shoes etc – the kick flare jeans were made for sock boots 🙂 xx
