Welcome to my short but sweet coat edit. I used to work on magazines where we would do an ‘edit’ of 150 coats but in my effort to help you navigate all these trends, I’m only including ones I love and would wear. So here’s a few great ones which I believe will last for years…
My tip for finding a great coat? Try to buy the best quality coat you can afford, look at fabrics and more classic styles that you will last you longer with less chance to date. If you fancy something more colourful, you can always add bright accessories or knitwear. If you wait, then try to buy a coat you couldn’t afford originally in the sale (I bought my fave ever Whistles navy blue coat in the sale around 7 years ago for £100 and it’s still going strong).
Cos isn’t cheap but it does last well. A classic wraparound feels like a dressing gown and will always look chic in your wardrobe.
I shared this Uniqlo beige oversized coat on TikTok recently (see also top image) and it sold out online! But it is back in (in most sizes) and I can really vouch for it. It’s already oversized, I am wearing a medium and it’s the perfect throw on coat.
I am often torn between a practical coat and a stylish one, but this version shows you don’t need to compromise!
Style tip: layer this under an oversized coat (if you can fit it!) for the ultimate in stylish meets cosy…
I saw this trench in real life and it’s a great shape, it also comes in black. Muji also have a great version but I can never find my size. Layer a hoodie underneath on chillier days.
This H&M coat looks really expensive, I’m surprised there are sizes left online!
