It’s June, the sun is shining and I’m back on the Frugality blog!
I have had an amazing three months off and feeling refreshed and excited with new content ideas. That said, I’m going to give myself the freedom to have a break if I need, as never want to regret coming back to the blog too soon – I’m only coming back because I want to.

So, things are going to be different around here going forward. Working on Instagram around Peggy these last few months has been challenging, and although there are two of us, we don’t have any childcare in place so any type of shoot involves A LOT of planning!
And since I started blogging in 2012, the way people consume blogs and social media has changed dramatically. So the blog will now reflect this, and I will be posting less but meatier content, which will be live (hopefully!) every Monday. Less generic outfit posts and more thoughts, musings and practical pieces.

Sponsored posts will still play a part in this content (I hope you don’t mind, as this is what allows me to continue posting and providing the free content that you enjoy), but any sponsored posts will be labelled as such (as always) and will be ‘extra’ content on top of the Monday posts.
As mentioned before, I put just as much thought and energy into sponsored posts to suit my blog style and I never promote anything I don’t like, or a brand I’ve never worn before (see my piece on posting authentically here).

Finally, I would love to hear what you would like to see more of on the blog. I will continue to cover style, great buys, renovation updates, travel, thoughts on the industry and the transition to motherhood. I will also be doing YouTube but more to support content when it works rather than a regular focus.
But as always, it is good to hear feedback on what works for you, as a reader, too – so please make sure you let me know!
It’s good to be back.

Welcome back Alex x
You may not have been around as much but your influence remained. I bought yet another pair of striped tops in the newly open Seasalt in Guildford!
I only use Twitter and follow your blog and you posted just enough in recent weeks to make sure you still had a visible presence. I look forward to reading more from you in the next few weeks but remember with small children plans have to be flexible?
Take care
Welcome back! Very happy to see you back posting.
Welcome back!! Looking forward to your upcoming posts. Especially on motherhood and interiors. It hasn’t really felt like too much of a break though as I catch your Instagram stories most days x
Welcome back Gorgeous Alex! So pleased to see you here again and I think your strategy moving forward sounds brilliant. When you have kids and time is of the essence, the quality over quantity thing has to kick in for your own sanity’s sake! Looking forward to more Frugality Fabulousness! xxx
Welcome back! Looking forward to all of the new content ?
Welcome back!! ☺️
You look amazing!Welcome back.
Lx
Welcome back Alex. Looking forward to blogs on fashion, travel, the renovation and now some mumlife too x
Welcome back, Mama! Would love to see a feature on nursing-friendly outfits- particularly dresses. Am trawling the internet for button-down tea dresses or shirt dresses. Let me know please if you spot any goodies! Thanks ?
Oh wonderful! I literally came across you on FB as you went on maternity leave and so I am pleased to see I can now read your up to date blog post! lovely style and gorgeous baby. x
Welcome back!! Love seeing your insta stories with Peggy. X
Welcome back yummy mummy. Have missed you but really pleased you took a break to get to grips with motherhood ( if there is such a thing) & fall in love with Peggy. I have been following you on Instagram though & been marvelling how you’ve managed to juggle everything & adapt. I think you’re one of those rare people who just make everyone feel better about themselves as a woman. Not just cos of your great taste & style & how effortless you make that look but your capacity to connect & be authentically you. Your values & sense of responsibilty shine through. No one in the blogging world does that as well as you in my estimation. So thank you & keep up the good work xx
Welcome back gorgeous Mama ! Looking forward to the same but different
Big kiss to the beautiful Peggy !
Ashley x
So delighted you are back!
Content ideas sound fantastic – I already feel inspired to wear my M&S spotty heels differently from these pictures.
Welcome back!! I’ve been following you and Peggy on Instagram as I had my baby boy about a week after you. xx
Welcome back Alex !!!
You look amazing ! Would love to see more interior inspiration and things that you think are cool online regardless of whether or not you have them!
Hooray! Welcome back Alex.
Would love anything fashion and renovation based (as i am also renovating at the mo and i won your bathroom tiles in the Ripples competition!) but also interested in motherhood even though i am not a mother…yet! I still find it interesting to read!
Welcome back ?
So lovely to have you back would be really keen to hear off breastfeeding friendly attire (not too mummy) if thats a potential post in the making?
Hi, i’ M the french girl who love your work??? just wanna say i’ll continue To read your posts whenever it’s on: nursery, outfit , your house diys… it’s better QUALITY than QUANTITY
Lovely to see you back again!
Great to see you back! Those three months have sped by!
As for sponsered comment, go for it – this is part of your living after all! And I for one trust you to only collaborate on things that are you, I’ve not yet seen you do anything that doesn’t seem to fit in with your style and ethos. I know some don’t like sponsered content, but that’s like reading the magazine in the shop and not buying it! Affiliated links are fine by me too, for the same reasons!
As for content, I’m still struggling to find a summer jacket that isn’t denim but still short, casual and not too boxy – any ideas?
What a treat to find you in my inbox this morning! Welcome back.
Hear hear – I love checking in with you on Insta and on your site and have followed up on many of your recommendations which I know its good to feedback to you. Well done on your honesty and your wonderful beautiful family – onwards to Miss Frugality future !!!
Welcome back – looking forward to the catch ups.
PS: Peggy is adorable
WELCOME BACK! Oh how I missed you around here! Can’t wait to see what you do this year (and to Peggy’s blog debut).
Love Briony xx
It’s SO good to see you back! I personally lap up all your interiors stuff, and fashion stuff too (things like a capsule wardrobe and shopping guides). xx
It’s good to have you back!
I’ve missed your inspirational blog posts
Looking forward to more content
Enjoy!
Welcome back! So happy that you’re keeping it true to you and real for us followers. Sponsored or not, I’m sure they’ll be good ones. You’ve never been one to do a sponsored content when you didn’t genuinely enjoy/use it.
Yes to see all the above and like you said more in depth/deeper musings.
Welcome back sweet friend! Xx
Love all of this! The only blogger I follow. H
Loving your outfit. You look gorgeous.

Welcome back Alex. Love the new hairstyle! ☺
Good to see you back and you for sure look great. No mummy tummy. I still haven’t lost mine after blah years.

Welcome back! Love your blog. So inspiring!
So glad the blog is back! Your wardrobe tips have been indispensable. A bathroom renovation post please! I also have a bronze theme in my new bathroom and found it very difficult to source products. Where did you get your bronze spray paint??
Love the change in the content, and that you have adapted some thing since becoming a mother. As a working mother myself I have grappled with things being “just as they were” when really It has probably been “the ‘same’ but better”, if that makes sense.
I would love to hear your thoughts on sharing your child on social media and safety (I share pics of my daughter, but not at school or in real time) and also your plans for childcare in the future.
Welcome back and well done for managing to do mother and work together whilst maintaining a balance and thanks Cx
Hey Alex, so good to see you back on the blogosphere, I missed your posts!
Just one thing – please, please, please keep your content as it has always been and don’t become one of those mummy-bloggers… I understand new mums’ life changes a lot and becomes all about the baby but it’s frustrating for us non-mothers when so many of our favourite blogs just become about the babies!
I adore your style, love your interiors and I’d like to continue seeing these things on your blog and Insta.
Anneli xx
Hi Alex, love your blog but definitely think less content is the way to go, esp with Insta. It doesn’t seem like you’ve had a break at all. I love how you often wear “old” pieces so would like to hear how you keep things looking good, places you use for repairs (e.g. shoes) etc. Realise that sounds a bit dull but would be useful. X
Hey Alex
Welcome back, although since I found you via Instagram after Peggy came along, I don’t feel like you’ve been gone.
I very quickly started devouring your archive. Love everything about The Frugality and think your new direction is just an evolution in tune with your ethos.
Really looking forward to reading all the post and the insta in between from the other side of the world, Perth Australia.
Cass
Welcome back! I am happy to see you writing again. I am really looking forward to your upcoming posts. It is always better to trust a writer who really writes for users not only for brands. Good to see you again. Good luck.
Aaah brilliant – love me a stripe! Yes am planning to work whilst I enjoy it but not enough so it interferes too much with family life xx
Thanks so much, Amanda! Excited to be back xxx
Thank you! Spacing posts out means I have more time to work on ideas, so I can’t wait to get stuck in!
Ergh – know what you mean! I haven’t got anything in the pipeline but might do as have had a few requests….luckily I have quite a few button front dresses in my wardrobe, which have been a godsend…and I usually just wear a t-shirt I can pull up easily with a sports bra/crop top – weirdly much less fuss than buttons and unclipping! Doesn’t draw so much attention xx
Thank you – such a lovely comment! x
Thanks so much Cass! Yes Insta Stories has added a whole new level to blogs, which is why I’m going to lower my expectations on content over here a bit! So glad you enjoy xxx
Aah thank you and not dull at all! A tip my mum taught me was to replace the soles of your shoes with rubber soles (sounds hideous but I did this with an old pair of Balenciaga sale buys and they’re still going strong 8 years on!) xx
I’m hoping to! There will be a few ‘life lessons’ posts about motherhood as I suppose my world is evolving but will definitely not be all birth stories, routines and only mum chat – I believe you can be a mum and still into other things, too! xxx
Yes this is such a good point! It’s such a weird idea, sharing your child and in these first few months we’ve been together every minute so feels weird not to include her in pictures…but I am becoming increasingly aware of a) her consent b) using a baby for ‘likes’ or ‘sponsored’ content c) security. It’s something we’re going to muddle through and I know my husband is a bit concerned about too many photos after 6 months so we will see! xxx
It is definitely there…..! Looser fitting clothes is helping (half of my wardrobe is still redundant!) xx
Thank you for reading along xxx
Welcome back! I always love how refreshingly honest your posts are! I love your outfit posts and always find them hugely inspirational – particularly as you feature the same item across posts over the years. I also love your concept of being “frugal” as I think it’s the most relatable of all my favourite bloggers! Happy to spend money on investment items but ultimately it all has to be a balance.
Welcome to motherhood and the smog club (smug mother’s of girls). It’s the best!
SOOOO happy you’re back :))))
xo, Sincerely Colleen
Such a cute look … and so sisterly adorable! ????
