I find I often don’t do pyjama posts because ‘I did one last year’ when in fact, it’s something that could be addressed every year. I made a vow a few years ago to only have lovely pyjamas I’d feel ‘special’ wearing, especially post partum. But alas, most of them don’t quite do up as neatly as they once did – so I’m on the look out for some reasonably priced ones that look more expensive than their price tag.
It’s actually quite a difficult task, so thought I’d share here. I’ve included materials and fabrics in the descriptions too, as this is something I am much more mindful of these days. And I thought it could probably kick off Gift Guide season quite well, too, as these make excellent gifts!

First up, these La Redoute ones I haven’t stopped thinking about. I love the mustard stripes as a chic alternative to a breton stripe.
But if you can’t prise yourself away from a nautical stripe, these from Uniqlo look great – and also won’t look odd if you stay in them all day, as is often the requirement for those short, dark, wintery days…

These Arket ones are the priciest ones we will include but I do find for the quality, Arket is always worth it. You buy the top and bottoms separately, which is sometimes frustrating but quite helpful if you’re not one standard size. Also good if you like fancy bottoms but would rather wear with a vest or tee!
The print on these Asos Design pyjamas are just the right balance before being too gimmicky:

The more I do these posts the harder it is to find good quality, chic pyjamas. But John Lewis have the best selection in terms of choice (although most do only go up to size L):
Their Nibs 100% polyester pyjamas: £35, John Lewis. 100% cotton pyjamas: £39, John Lewis.
I’ve also recently discovered ‘Their Nibs’ pyjama brand in general:

I almost didn’t check Jigsaw as I assumed theirs would be a bit too pricey for this post and, whilst there are some more premium options, these cotton mix (machine washable) ones come in at £65:

I love Muji and that’s mainly because they do this same pyjama style year after year:

And trusty Gap…(this is mostly where I buy my kids pjs too – great quality).

Hush always do great quality pyjamas and I love that you can buy these as a set or trousers separately (albeit a bit pricier when bought individually). This pair comes in a array of colours:

These botanical print ones from Oliver Bonas have a timeless floral quality to them. Be warned: these pjs come with a matching scrunchie as part of a set which may, or may not be useful to you…

Shout to my DMs for recommending a few brands I hadn’t heard of/thought about. First up: Myza – a female owned business, these sets are 100% cotton and I love the details like the piped trim. They recommend going up a size for a more relaxed fit:
And Kate Barnét, who often uses deadstock fabrics to create their pyjamas. This pair also have deep pockets which I’d like to see more of in pyjamas!

For those with a larger budget, Toast’s double cotton pyjamas are gorgeous at £99, and I can highly recommend Desmond & Dempsey as a ‘splurge’ purchase…
I am also a fan of J Crew and cotton poplin pyjamas are a bit of a signature for them!

…but I also wanted to mention ‘Yawn’ who are an independent brand using organic cotton and hand-painted prints, a classic pyjama set will set you back £89 but this nightshirt, for instance is £59:

Thanks Alex for researching such a wonderful selection . Hard to choose a favourite but something for everyone here. Pyjamas are just fabulous for mooching around and ideal for when staying with family or friends. I love the fact you have also chosen a nightshirt as you don’t see these very often. Very much looking forward to your Christmas present guides as this year I seem to have run short of ideas.
