The L.K. Bennett Social Skirt

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman
Silk skirt: £250, LK Bennett. Heels: £225, LK Bennett. Cashmere jumper (mens): £79, Marks & Spencer. Clutch: L.K. Bennett (old). Photographs: Ella Sadika

*London Fashion Week klaxon*. You’ll be pleased to know I’m not actually around for LFW this season – as you are reading this I am away on a shoot in Lisbon. Lucky for me I get some sunshine, and lucky for you as you don’t get bombarded with too many LFW posts…

Or maybe a few. When L.K. Bennett asked me to style up their ‘Social Skirt’ – the Kensal floral – in my way, I jumped at the chance because a) I love a full skirt and b) it gave me fashionable content to upload for LFW whilst I was away on a shoot probably in jeans, trainers and no make-up (as a blogger, you have to consider these things!).

It’s social for a few reasons – we live in such a social world these days this is how most of us attain information. But also L.K. Bennett’s midi skirt is fast becoming one of those pieces that they’re known for – it’s synonymous with the brand – and when Style Icons like Caroline Issa are wearing them to Fashion Week, you know it’s kind of a big deal.

It’s quite unusual for a bit of a tomboy like myself to wear a midi skirt but I am often seen wearing them – I love how they make me feel that little bit more dressy. And by wearing with my current favourite (mens – size S) cashmere slouchy jumper brings it back to more my style.

It has also come at a good time as I was worrying about what to wear for my London Fashion Weekend talk on 27th September – especially after discussing outfits with Erica from The Edited (who will be there with me) – and we were almost going to wear the same thing!! So, this skirt answers everything – smart enough to look ‘wow’ but could also be dressed down with a shirt and some fab flats (I’m thinking lace-up flats as it will be a long day).

But we should probably talk about the shoes…they’ve already had a lot of love on instagram – and the piano key monochrome looks fab with everything – from skinny jeans to a full skirt. The heel height is actually pretty good for walking, too (but they also come in a slightly lower heel – which are cheaper, too, here).

Pretending I live here

See my Pinterest board on the midi skirt here and make sure you’re following me on Instagram for an exciting chance to WIN this skirt. It’s not too often I do competitions so wishing you all good luck!

This post is in collaboration with L.K. Bennett (this post allows me to do things like pay my photographer – thanks for supporting!).
