To our shiny new website! I hope this new, colourful site will be easier to navigate and provide you with as much useful content as before, and then some. It has been a while in the making….
I’ve always found it interesting when I’ve received comments saying ‘that’s not frugal’, as to me, it’s a relative topic. One person might have a huge debt yet not think twice about shopping in Whistles, another might be living on discount coupons but have a ton of savings in the bank, I spend £30 a week on our family food bill yet would always save for a nice pair of expensive slippers. And certainly, the term has changed its meaning for me over the 7 years of editing content. So that’s why I am truly excited to introduce a relaunch of the site: The Frugality is no longer one woman’s sole voice. Yes, I will still be editing and contributing my weekly content (as before) but it is now also a collective. An edited destination on living well, affordably (whatever that means to you).
Here I hope to expand with opinion pieces, real stories, useful city guides from other inspiring women with excellent non-fancy taste (whilst helping to cut down on my own carbon footprint) and of course: interiors tips and tricks. The ethos of the site will remain the same and you can still catch me on social media as before.
To be honest, this was always my plan for The Frugality and I cannot tell you how excited for it to be a realisation.
WELCOME….
PS any feedback on usability, navigation and content ideas, as always email info@the-frugality.com – it’s always good to hear from you!
Fantastic to see your new website and I’m an avid follower so many congrats for the future!
Yay! Congratulations on the revamp – it looks wonderful. One thing I was wondering, would it be possible to have a category for sustainable/green posts? You’ve given loads of really useful information & I’m constantly searching for posts to find things like suggestions for reusable wipes etc so it would be really handy to have it all in one place xx
Congratulations on the new website. Looking forward to seeing it evolve.
Congrats on the new site Alex, it looks amazing and I’m very excited to hear that you’re going to have new contributors. I’ve been reading your blog from near the beginning and I’m so pleased to see how it’s grown x
Congratulations Alex on your relaunch! I look forward to hearing from you each week. I am so happy for your success.
Alex!!! This is wonderful – you’ve done an absolutely brilliant job of the re-vamp – congratulations on the shiny new Frugality!
Amanda xx
I am sorry to hear of your loss and glad you’re back!
I would LOVE to know how you stick to a weekly food budget of £30 for the whole family as I can’t manage that for just myself!
Any tips, please?
Best of luck with everything!
hi alex
lovely to have you back, sorry to hear about you being poorly and the bereavement I’m loving the new site!
Lovely new layout. Very easy to read and respond!
Love love love it Alex, this sounds very exciting. Also loving the colourful header! Quick question (got my journo brain on)… will you be taking pitches for contributors in the future??
Keep up the fab work!
Laura x
So sorry to hear about your bereavement, wishing you all the best for the future
Very best wishes for your new website!
I’m very impressed that you only spend £30 a week on food. However do you do that? Maybe this could be one if your topics one day?
Well looking lovely so far! Always enjoy your content even when sometimes not relevant (eg I was unable to have children but enjoy watching Peggy grow. So sorry for your recent loss). But always well curated and interesting to reference.
Hi,
I just purchased your ebook on Budgets via PayPal. Where do I find it to read it?
Thanks
Hi Alex
I absolutely can’t wait for this. I really love your ethos of saving for things that will last and mixing it up with high street finds. I also like that you talk about issues such as sustainability and mental health. Having guest conductors will be an added attraction.
I’m finding Instagram a bit much these days. It shouldn’t but it often makes me feel crap about what I’ve not got .I’d rather be grateful for what I have got and find nspiration and ideas from a few blogs I like.Yours would have been top of the list and the new format has given me something to really look forward to.
Thank you for all the hard work you put into your content. It’s crestive as well as relatable and just down right enjoyable.
Sending you all the positive vibes.
Indira
Welcome back ,Hope you are feeling good . New site looks promising 😀👍
Loving the new look of your site (the colour scheme particularly is very striking and made me smile instantly I opened your newsletter) and looking forward to the new collective approach – welcome back!
This is why it’s so brilliant named ‘The Frugality’, it’s not limited to cheap, but encompasses so much more! I’ve loved your repeats and the encouragement to shop your wardrobe. You’ve curtailed this lady’s spending! Love Annie x
Love the new site thus far !
I agree frugality isn’t about being struggling . For me it’s saving on areas like food , travel etc so I can afford a bit of luxury every now and then .
I truly love your ethos and you have inspired me after listening to you on Madeline Shaws amazing podcast !
Keep up the positive frugal vibes 😊

Bravo!! Excited to follow along with the new contributors! So proud of you friend!’
Love the new look, but does this mean we will see less of Peggy 😰
Congratulations on the new site! Will continue to read as always! Mirlah xox
I guess over time, it will! I am trying to navigate this online world slowly and don’t want her feeling she didn’t have a choice in this, so will start to separate my life/work a bit more xx
Thank you so much for reading along xxx
Thank you so much! I am hoping this will broaden the posts a bit more too, to not be just my journey – and it has really got me excited for new content! xx
So sorry – will email you now xx
Thank you so much for reading along, there will be much wider scope for articles now (and more often, too!) xx
It’s in the e book actually! But will talk about it more, potentially here and on stories! xx
Thank you xxx
Yes! info@the-frugality.com – although haven’t figured out how I’ll deal with that inbox yet! xx
Ha! We’re VERY strict in the supermarket and plan every meal….it’s in my e book but will talk more in stories going forward xx
Thanks Teresa xxx
Fab! Thank you xx
Thank you xx
Thank you so much Deborah xxx
Thanks for this – I suppose I’m anxious to add a complete sustainable area as I am definitely no expert, more trying to navigate it in the same way everyone else is! But I will always try and push the more eco posts towards the homepage and highlight them more often xx
Thank you for always reading xx
Thank you so much Jayne xx
Thank you so much, hope you’re well! xxx
I’ve always enjoyed your mix of content and so I’m sure the variety of contributors will only enhance that aspect! I’m in the U.S. and haven’t found a similar blog, so you inspired me to create my own a few months ago (which is still very different from yours, but I enjoy having an outlet). I’ve even linked back to you. 🙂
Congrats – it looks fantastic, and I look forward to continuing to find great tips on managing money, style and more. 🙂 Robyn
Thank you so much, glad you’re enjoying blogging! xx
Hi Alex,
Welcome back, you were missed! Hope you are feeling a little better now? New website looks very polished (not that I didn’t like the old one). Looking forward to some great content and new ideas. As an avid reader, might you do something on contemporary fiction ? Always good to red reviews and recommendations.

Hi Tricia,
Thank you! Funnily enough I just met with a journalist and discussed this with her! I’m a VERY slow reader but this is something I’d love to introduce – so, coming soon! xx
