Work Uniform

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman
Coat: Whistles (old). Jumper: £70, Topshop Boutique. Bag: £175, Iris & Ink. Trousers: £79, Cos. Trainers: £62, Adidas Stan Smith. Photographs: Christopher O’Donnell
My old school uniform was navy blue, but somehow I have grown up with it being my favourite colour. There are always outfits we go back to time and time again, tried and tested, and mine is definitely stripes, navy and trainers.
But usually I’m wearing jeans, and now I’m (occasionally) making the effort to dress a little smarter for work. My job requires me to always be ‘on the go’ so a relaxed look is essential.
I’m making the move towards a wider leg trouser, Erica Davies has been doing this look for a while and I love the relaxed silhouette. These Cos ones aren’t super wide but feel smart – it’s always my number one store for easy to wear workwear classics. Me+Em have a great pair of side stripe trousers I’ve got my eye on and the obvious choice of footwear is the classic white sneaker which is showing no signs of dying. Obviously I am lucky enough to wear trainers to work but these trousers work equally with a low heel (see my London Fashion Week outfit here) – plus a kitten heel is pretty much the shoe of the season.
The bag is an Iris & Ink one, such a great mid level brand of wardrobe building block basics – I had a voucher to go towards it from Christmas and felt I needed a bag which fitted more than just my oystercard in (I love my Sophie Hulme bag like it was my child, but practical it is NOT).
!function(d,s,id){var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;if(!d.getElementById(id)) {e = d.createElement(s);e.id = id;e.src = p + ‘://’ + ‘widgets.rewardstyle.com’ + ‘/js/shopthepost.js’;d.body.appendChild(e);}if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {window.__stp.init();}}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

    Silly question but is the bag big enough to fit an ipad in? Trying to find a work bag that is big enough for notepad and ipad but not the usual massive laptop bag I drag around

      Not a silly question at all! No, this bag probably isn't big enough for an ipad…is it a mini or regular size? My iPad mini fits in my Radley navy blue bag perfectly xx

    I love navy, it's probably the colour I wear most (I have more navy jumpers than anything else) and this Iris & Ink bag is just perfect, it looks like a great size too.

      There is nothing better than a navy cashmere crew-neck in my opinion! Yes, so pleased with the bag…used it pretty much nonstop x
