January Blues

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman
Coat: £81 in the sale, Asos White.  Jumper: £70, Topshop Boutique. Jeans: £215, M.i.h Jeans. Boots: £125, And Other Stories. Bag: £115, Cambridge Satchel Company. Photographs: Christopher O’Donnell

Yep. it’s winter alright. Time for uncool, padded jackets. I have my Uniqlo puffa on standby to wear under everything I own, but also bought this in a panic buy before I went away – I was looking for an alternative to the ubiquitous parka, and this fits the bill.

Navy camouflage, it’s a bit Christopher Kane of a few seasons ago (which I was obsessed with) – and it makes a nice change to my usual khaki parka. It’s from Asos White – I now find myself serching for Asos white as a filter genre now, I love everything – better quality, great attention to detail, and more Cos-like shapes. I mean, I’m seriously contemplating this wool jumpsuit:

Jumpsuit, £85, Asos

And I don’t think we even need to sing the praises of the fluffy poloneck – it’s basically the only jumper I want to wear all winter.

The jeans are M.i.h ‘Bridge’ jeans, I’ve never been one for a designer skinny jean but this high-waisted pair are everything. I feel so pulled in and I keep reaching for them over my Topshop ones and they don’t lose their fit after a few wears. They really make a difference.
I also think it’s time to have a jeans and boots talk. Up until now I’ve managed to get away with it, but let’s face it – skinny jeans look better with a bit of flesh on show. A slither between jeans and boots or a touch of bare ankle.
I’m not sure I can get away with it for much longer. But I’m just not convinced skinny jeans look good tucked into ankle boots and definitely not over the top…so perhaps it’s flares for me, or skirts and tights – any ideas, keep me posted. Until then, I shall keep freezing my little ankles off.

Totally agree with the jeans/boots thing. Then you have the whole 'can people look down my boots and see my socks?' dilemma? Roll on spring!

Yes! And they look really bulky from where you are looking…but not sure if everyone else can see? First world problems (!) x

I'm keen to know the size of the coat too if that's ok? I'm pregnant and wondering what size would be best for me. You look great in it BTW 🙂

Thank you! It's a size 8, so comes up big but I wouldn't want it any smaller to fit heavy knits underneath etc x congratulations!
