Thinking pink

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman

Coat: Sezane (sold out but available in black). Top: £12.90, Uniqlo. Cashmere scarf: £160, Lois Avery. Jeans: £184.51, Mother Denim.  Boots: £40 in the sale, Topshop. Bag: Charles & Keith (sold out). Photographs: Christopher O’Donnell

Pink is happening. Not that any of you were in any doubt that pink has certainly been the colour of the season already… In fact, I’ve been obsessing about all things pink: trainers, coats, cosy knits, t-shirts and of course interiors.

Pink makes me happy

As a matter of fact, it really is one of those colours that makes me particularly happy but it has to be in the right shade – paler than pale almost chalky pink. The kind of pink that lifts grey days as well as a grey coat.

This coat was one of those amazing buys from Sezane – pricey but worth it – and it promptly sold out. It makes everything else in my wardrobe feel ‘scrubbed up’. I must admit, everything I’m wearing here is kind of old again – items in my wardrobe I reach for on a regular basis.

And here I am with a silly bag. Yep, I definitely understand the irony. This fits hardly anything in – but I love the shape and couldn’t bare to throw this one out – and besides, it looked better in the photo than any other. But it’s definitely more of an ‘evening only’ bag.

I’ve been living in this scarf, too, a wonderful brand set up by one of those lovely people I met through Social Media. Lois Avery cashmere scarves and shawls – so amazing to see independent women doing their own thing and succeeding.

You can wear pink with anything!

The thing about pink is that it’s surprisingly easy to wear – with denim, black – even with red – these boots work (I think!) and I wore it similarly with my red New Balance recently and it was very well received.

In the event that you’re looking to cheer up dry/wet/damp January? Invest in something pink.

    Great outifit! Gorgeous coat.
Pink and bordeaux is a stunning colour combination. I own a salmon pink Helmut Lang winter jacket (I am very proud of it because it is from the last collection that he designed himself and I snatched it in the sale for half the price). You just gave me the idea to combine it with my bordeaux corduroys. Let’s fight that January blues! Brigitte x

I love this outfit and those boots are fab! I think I need to invest in a pair of burgundy statement boots to team with my pink coat 🙂

I’m in love with this look. You look amazing! Quick question – I am a curvy hourglass so would the shape still work? Also I’m a dark brunette and look rubbish in pastels – would any other colour work? The grey looks a bit school uniform to me…

I really adore the striking contrast of the pale pink, against the grey of the gate/door. You style everything so thoughtfully 🙂 xo
