5 A/W Trends you WILL be buying

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman

Rather than my usual trend round-ups, I’ve decided to just pick out a few key items that will be finding their way into your wardrobes over the next few months. My tip: if you like something now, get it before it sells out.

I blogged about a blue faux fur stole last year (see the post here) – but this Next one is a great alternative. I bought a pale blue mongolian fur collar for £2 from a carboot sale last month (it was from River Island), so I will definitely be bringing that out soon! This is a fun trend, so I definitely wouldn’t spend crazy money on it. If you’re a bit wary of doing it full-on, there are also loads of accessories, too.
Faux fur multi-stripe stole, £35, Asos
Faux fur sandals (they come in black, too), £58, Topshop
Faux fur stole (I’ve seen it up close and it’s excellent quality), £20, Next
Faux fur bag, £14 (in the sale), Asos

I’ve recently been wearing more and more trousers as opposed to jeans (I LIVE in my Asos pair). Feels too stiff? Wear with trainers for now:

Wearing my Asos pair, £21 (reduced in the SALE), Asos
Tailored peg-leg trousers, £22, Asos
Slouchy wide-leg trousers, £45, Topshop
Pair with these velvet slip-ons, only £12.99, New Look (I’ve just purchased!)

This is hard to do head to toe, and certainly for someone as scared of colour as me. Try a block colour coat or this season’s polo neck for your go-to piece.

Wool coat, £49.99, New Look

There were all sorts of blue coats on the catwalk, however, it is more the soft, powdery blue which has gone global with Street Stylers. If you’re after a statement coat this season, this is your one. I am waiting for the Marks and Spencer Per Una version to land instores, personally..

The great thing about the lace trend is that if, like me, you haven’t been on holiday yet, a lace piece will last both summer and winter. I’m buying this top from Next to take me through both seasons:

Just ordered the ASOS trousers. Am hoping they'll work for the school run without being mumsy. That new look coat is fab. I have a gorgeous orange M&S one from last year so already ticked that box!

I love the trousers – a good length, too! And yes to the orange coat, it's all about colour (finally) x

Talk about timing…I've been re-visiting your faux fur post from months back and stalking Helen Moore's website and just as I'd made up my mind as to what to buy, they changed the website and raised all prices by nearly 50%! Kicking myself for not buying one sooner. You've also planted a blue coat seed now! Ann x

Love this piece Alex – this drizzly weather has got me thinking about Autumn. Love the faux fur trend and blue coat.

Thank you! So funny as I had been meaning to do this post since Feb/March and it has never been a good time…and now it just feels right!
