For the love of stripes…

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman
Ribbed roll neck: £59.50, Boden. Suede miniskirt: £199, Boden.  Leather saddle bag: £199, Boden. Photographs: Eva K Salvi

Always a perennial favourite for me, it’s as if a magnetic force draws me to those horizontal lines. And this has always been where my connection with Boden began – a brand that shamelessly heralds stripes? That’s something I can get on board with.

But this season they’ve added a few twists. I tried, for the first time, a stripe rollneck – which will look equally good with skinny black jeans and under a black mac (I’m thinking PVC a la Alexa during fashion Week). And then the classic breton? Try one with a paint stripe of pink down the front, or with velvet lace ties on the shoulders…because this season, it’s all in the details.

And I really don’t think we need to talk about the leopard shoes. Dreamy.

And from work to weekend, my look goes a little more (okay, a lot more) relaxed…my favourite weekend breton top feels fresh with a splash of pink – I have this style breton in a few colour ways now: classic, with spots etc – it washes so nicely and is a real outfit maker.

Hello Alex, that's brilliant! Stripes + rollneck! Now I know how to get through winter in (Breton) style. Although the one with the pink paint stripe is very alluring, too. Oh, tough choice… And the quality looks lovely too (as usual with Boden). Brigitte x

Boden always do good stripes, and I love that they kept doing what they're good at, too – but with a few extra twists!

There's just something about suede and turtleneck that caught my attention, and deym! It sure looks great together, not to mention the stripes. And the second look just won me over. Love the addition of those camel coat, they just make an outfit looks so chic. Love it!

I know, some of the leather pieces are quite expensive…but I always regret buying non leather. M&S has a good range of bags at the moment, too x

That suede skirt is a dream. Great colour for Autumn and a wonderful alternative to black. I'm really enjoying Boden's designs at the moment. One of the few brands who do petites really well – their classic shirts are the best for pint sized style vixens like me!
