This Works candle, £12.99 (usually £25), TK Maxx |
I don’t mean to scare anyone here, but there is only 1 more PayDay before Christmas. Having quite a small family myself, I don’t have to buy too many presents – but still it adds up. The trick is to start early, it really is the only way.
And my favourite shop for presents, without doubt is TK Maxx. Need an expensive looking gift that wraps easily and everyone wants to receive? Then look no further – last year I found a pair of Frends headphones for £49.99 (still currently £180 on Avenue 32), and this year their candle and toiletries selection has surpassed itself. This Works candle that smells like Christmas for £12.99? Done.
Candles are my ultimate best present to give – everyone likes them but no one wants to spend the money on themselves. I found this votive candle set for £12 (the perfect hostess gift).
They also have brands like Dermologica, Lierac (my dad’s skincare favourite) and a lot of organic skincare which looks like Aesop (and will look good in my bathroom). It’s also great for wrapping, kidswear (I have picked up Stella McCartney for £5.99), frames, books, olive oils and cards – Erica from The Edited even got some Jonathan Adler from her local store. Last year, we went in the first week of December and pretty much got everyone’s presents – so trust me, don’t be daunted and just go and have a rummage.
I love TK Maxx and you never know what you might find! Agree the candles are always a great price and every time I go near the notebook section I come away with a small pile as they are all so pretty I cant decide 🙂
I totally agree – I love a little rummage around TK Maxx to see what I can unearth. I spotted some Neom candles in there earlier this year which I treated myself to and am now thinking I should head back there pretty soon to see what else I can find. Like you say, there are not many days left now – eek!
They have wonderful stationery…and photo frames. I also love the sense of satisfaction when you rummage and come out with a real gem x
Neom is one of my absolute faves…haven't seen it in my local, yet -will keep searching!
Two paydays for me, thankfully. It's amazing what you can get in TJMaxx – I always get a few presents in there too. Also there was a pair of Celine thigh boots in my local branch the other day! In my size too. But the fit on the leg didn't work for me, sadly…
God I LOVE LOVE LOVE TK Maxx!
AND ITS NOT JUST FOR XMAS LOL
In the last 4 months I've picked up J Brand jeans (the Maria style) for just £39 – retail price is over £250!
At the same Time I also got some Paige Margot jeans for a similar price, and some MiH jeans also.
My branch has also seen tonnes of Tibi, Chloe shoes and a mouthwatering GREAT Maje selection
tk maxx is my FAVOURITE. always get the neom bath oils/diffusers, the perricone MD and nars makeup and tom ford perfumes.
Tell me the exact location of a TK Maxx that sells Tom Ford and you'll make my weekend a happy one xx
Just a few little treats! 😉
Such a shame…and good that you didn't just cave in – all too tempting to be enamoured by the brands rather than the fit….x
I always swerve by TK Maxx for bits and bobs at Christmas. I then end up seeing lots of lovely stuff for myself and completely loose the plot and get sidetracked. Dangerous business this shopping lark, I am probably safer on the internet. Re the above comment about the Tom Ford, I would like the address of that store too!!. x
The only sad thing is that the labels are SO hard to get off for gifts – I always check online for the candles. I picked up a massive special edition miller Harris one last week for £25- usual price £75, they also have lots of missoni scarves and ponchos
Where have you spotted Aesop Alex!?
I always do a whip around TK Maxx about now for my Christmas presents…..Not sure if it's just my branch, but I find you need to go first thing before the store starts to look like a jumble sale! Last year I did really well, especially for all the teens in the family who love, anything with a designer label on it! Plus I always manage to find a few goodies for me in the process….Well, it would be rude not too?!
Helen xx
So true -you need to be strict when you go in!
Haha! True – but these ones were actually fine! I think when they are on the tags they get stuck…yes, a friend once got the Jane Birkin x Miller Harris candle – I was so jealous! It wasn't aesop, it was a cool brand which looked like it (which often, is good enough for me – I often buy products for packaging!) x
Well, exactly! Yes first thing is a good idea. I was about to go inmy local one today at lunch time and you've just reminded me it's a bad idea (plus, it's raining) x
What store is this? I'd LOVE to find a TKMaxx that sells Maje! X
I saw some in the Covent garden branch x
TK Maxx is my new favourite shop! I bought some of my Christmas presents in the Kingston branch today. I found a huge Le Creuset stoneware dish and butter dish for £30 (RRP £70) and a Joseph Joseph chopping board set for £25 (RRP £50). I can’t believe I have walked past it all these years! I think it’s because I don’t have the patience for clothes in there but I love the homewares section. I also picked up a three wick neon candle and some Le Parfait jars for myself last week. It’s so satisfying! Rachel x
Oh yeah, it's all about the homewares for me – it's so good – so please I've converted you!! Went in on the weekend and picked up some cowshed baby products for my nephew £4.99! x
I honestly only discovered this treasure trove last weekend with a friend who recommended I have a look for beauty buys! It is truly amazing!
