Keep It Natural: Natural Fabrics

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman

Hat: £17.50, Marks & Spencer. Playsuit: £148, Free People. Sunglasses: J Crew (old). Bag: Wood/Grey (sold out but buy one similar from Etsy here). Sandals: H&M (old).

There’s something about a natural fabric that gets me so excited for summer. I’ve always loved raw edged linen, espadrilles, canvas bags and rope sandals for holiday. And what with my Ibiza trip imminent, I’m looking for a few last minute accessories to throw in my suitcase.

And with tonal dressing turning into a big trend of A/W, I love the idea of keeping it all in one, simple palette. Neutrals are the easiest way to wear this trend, with a hint of black – perfect for summer.

No one does those natural fabrics better than Lucy from Fashion Me Now.

Lindsay from Ropes of Holland wearing sandals bought from Nomadic State of Mind.

Raw

More natural fabrics are now part of our consciousness, and I hope are leading to a more sustainable way of buying products. I often send items back now if the quality doesn’t feel durable and ‘weighty’ (maybe I’m just getting older) – but it’s equally nice to see the High Street using these fabrics more.

The easiest way to incorporate it into your holiday wardrobe are via accessories – look for raw edges on your raffia hat, or woven soles on more classic leather shoes. I’ve also done a little round-up below of some fab High Street finds…

1. Linen tee: £40, J Crew

2. Sandals: $42, Nomadic State of Mind

3. Tassel earrings: £12.99, Mango

4. Straw bag: £15, Marks & Spencer

5. Raffia sandals: £30, Next

6. Multi-use oil: £7.99, H&M Conscious Collection

7. Crochet bikini top: £22, Accessorize

8. Linen shirt: £29.99, H&M

9. Linen culottes: £39.95, Gap

10. Raffia hat: £18, Next

11. Bronzing gel: £12.50, Trilogy

It’s a size Small – a little big, I have to pull it quite a lot at the waist but I like the oversized style of it x
