Supersize sleeves

Fashion - By Alexandra Stedman

Coat: £198, Jigsaw. Jumper with flared sleeves: £35, Marks & Spencer. Jeans: Asos (sold out but buy similar from H&M here). Bag: £89, And Other Stories. Fishnet socks: £3, Asos. Shoes: Zara (old). Photographs: Christopher O’Donnell

When I featured this M&S jumper on my Instagram, the first thing people asked was whether it would fit under a coat, so I felt it my duty to demonstrate…

It fits!

You just have to do the age old trick of holding onto your sleeves as you push your arm through the coat, and pull it out a bit. I actually like the overspill from the coat, gives a bit of ‘oomph’ to an otherwise plain coat.

This pea coat is old from Jigsaw, but a style they do every season – it is more of a spring coat but layered up it works for winter too and I’ve been wearing it more and more.

I’ve been contemplating the fishnet socks look for a while, and decided to bite the bullet. It’s a little nod to socks and sandals without fully committing, and I like how they look with jeans and flats, too. It’s not a look for everyone but for the moment, it’s giving me a little fashion edge to the inbetween season right now.

Red accessories is also my answer to everything at the moment – it sets off grey and navy so easily. I didn’t invest in a pair of red boots this season but this pair of Zara heels have proved a great buy and are one of my new additions to a capsule wardrobe.

Coat: £198, Jigsaw. Jumper: £35, Marks & Spencer. Jeans: Asos (sold out but buy similar from H&M here). Bag: £89, And Other Stories. Fishnet socks: £3, Asos. Shoes: Zara (old).

Nice! Love the entire look put together. Can you please share where your belt is from?
I’m in search of a new everyday belt of a good quality in that size.

    Thank you.

Is your jacket black or navy? Looks great, I’m looking for a black one like that…the jigsaw one is navy. Like it in the khaki too though…and the sleeves look great like that.

I bought the ASOS fishnet socks earlier this month too. Showed Jamie and he was all like ” hmmmm really not sure they are you”, but they totally work and I proved him wrong! Wearing with jeans and trainers as I type ?

I tried this jumper on in m&s today and as usual with their clothing….specially jumpers and tops…. it was just too small. I’m a size 16 and tried this in XL…. still too small. They are very timid with their styling. This is meant to be worn loose but it’s not cut wide enough. They should copy the cut of makes like Oska, they’d sell more!
